With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I figured it seemed fitting to discuss Kitchens and how they became one of Real Estate's most valuable rooms. Think about it - cooking, eating, and socializing is a HUGE part of our culture and what better place to do all these things than in the kitchen? Speaking from experience, I take pride in being a homeowner, but more importantly, rooms in my home that I know will get the most use. The way we cook and eat today is shaping what we want in our kitchens and what we're willing to pay.
According to Realtor.com, 69% of professional real estate agents used the kitchen as the selling point to their description. Homes with exquisite kitchens and jaw dropping islands or appliances sell 8% faster than homes in the same zip code and similar size. So what are some kitchen feature that can add the most value to your home? Custom cabinetry, kitchen island, creative lighting, granite countertops, large pantry, stainless steel appliances, tile backsplash, and a breakfast bar. Now, I'm not saying to spend an arm and a leg to get these put into your home, but they are defiantly things to keep in mind when considering a home renovation, upgrades, or future listing descriptions if you plan to sell.
